What's your inflation rate?

The official rate is an average across everybody. Yours depends on what you buy. Enter rough monthly amounts. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Tip: rough numbers are fine. What matters is the mix of your spending, not the exact dollars.

How this works

  • Your rate = each category's official price change × its share of your spending, all added up.
  • Data: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index (CPI-U, U.S. city average), . Periods run September to September.
  • Homeowners: BLS tracks owned housing with "owners' equivalent rent" (what your home would rent for), not your mortgage payment. A fixed-rate mortgage payment doesn't rise with inflation, so treat that row as a rough guide.
  • It's an estimate. Your stores, city and brands differ from the national average. Use it to understand your mix, not as financial advice.
  • Privacy: the calculation runs entirely in your browser. We don't store or send what you enter.
